Re-Engineer your Presentations July 22nd, 2011 | Add a Comment

If you want really effective presentations, you need to re-think how you prepare them.  If you, like most people, switch to PowerPoint as soon as you hear the word ‘presentation’, then we have something to show you.

We suggest you completely re-engineer how you approach your presentations.  Forget PowerPoint.

The best presentations start with a lot of thinking and a blank sheet of paper.  Before you write anything, you need to:

  1. Work out exactly who your audience is (e.g. it it really everyone in the room, or just those 5 people who matter? )
  2. Be clear on what you want to achieve with your presentation (am I really going to sell the idea at this stage, or do I  want not to be rejected)
  3. Plan a Hook (how will I grab attention early on)
  4. Identify a Main Message – the one think that will get remembered from your talk.

The time you spend at this stage, will save you hours later on.  In fact, if you do a very good job planning, you may never use PowerPoint at all, and never have to do endless edits of your slide deck.

This approach is used in our training.  In this way our clients create and deliver highly impressive and high impact presentations fast and efficiently.
